Jessica Fatherly, a senior, attends Virginia Commonwealth University as a Fashion Merchandising major, General Business minor. She joined the River City Fashion Uprising team during her sophomore year as a writer and photographer. Quite the visionary, Jessica had a passion to shift RCFU to a new creative direction.
Jessica’s prior experience of working with writers and photographers inspired her to expand the RCFU team to seven additional positions: videography, styling, social media, PR, event coordinating, graphic design, and modeling. She had the desire to maximize RCFU’s presence in the Richmond fashion industry by increasing RCFU’s number of collaborations with local brands and boutiques, consequently raising the amount of fashion editorial content released.
Throughout her college career, Jessica has had the pleasure of writing for hip-hop inspired blog, Kickrocs as Urban Fashion Columnist. She was selected as a 2016 $5K YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund recipient for her Birchbox case study. Over the summer, Jessica had the wonderful opportunity to work at Pacific Sunwear’s corporate office in Anaheim, California as a Merchandise Planning E-Commerce intern.
With all of her experience and evolving skill set, Jessica aspires to move back to the west coast and pursue a career in the fashion industry in buying, branding, or advertising.
Danielle ‘Dani’ Brown started with RCFU last year as a writer. She is a junior VCU student, majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Spanish.
